MONEY MATTERS

“Money cannot buy happiness” is an overused phrase that is relevant to people who have any kind of wealth. Meanwhile, the person living on the street struggles to find shelter or even food to survive because of not having any money. For them, money is a matter of life and death to which happiness doesn’t compare.

The liveability of a city determines the level of happiness and satisfaction of its inhabitants. The built environment plays an important role in creating liveable cities as it affects the physical, psychological, and social well-being of its inhabitants. The quality of built environments is dependent on the economic condition of the city.

Architecture affects human emotions and we fail to understand that they are a direct consequence of the richness of people in a city. Since there is an economic disparity in most regions around the world, it is difficult to attain healthy, liveable cities. The debate to be raised in this literary piece is whether livability and happiness in cities are connected to the richness of the city.
